A detox center provides medical and psychological support during the first days of recovery. Withdrawal is managed safely with monitoring, medication and comfort care, which lowers the relapse risk that comes with white-knuckling it alone.

Detox is strongly recommended if you drink heavily every day, take benzodiazepines like Xanax or Klonopin, or use opioids like fentanyl, heroin or Percocet. You are never placed and forgotten. Detox is day one of a plan that continues with us — most clients step down into PHP (about six hours a day, five days a week) or IOP (9–15 hours a week, day or evening).
