Under parity law, Cigna covers substance use treatment on the same footing as medical care. Partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient are recognized levels of care subject to your plan's deductible and coinsurance.
Cigna typically requires authorization for PHP and reviews IOP as treatment continues. Our clinical documentation is built for that process so care is not interrupted by paperwork.
Dual diagnosis matters to Cigna's reviewers: when depression, anxiety, PTSD or bipolar disorder is part of the picture, integrated treatment is easier to authorize and far more effective. We treat both together by default.
