Federal parity law requires most Blue Cross plans to cover substance use and mental health care on the same terms as medical care. In practice that means partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment are covered benefits, subject to your deductible and coinsurance.
Keystone HMO products typically require in-network care and sometimes a referral; Personal Choice and BlueCard PPO products give you more freedom but may have a higher deductible.
Blue Cross plans often review outpatient treatment for medical necessity as you go. Our clinical team documents progress with the BARC-10 and PHQ-9 / GAD-7 so continued authorization is based on real measurement.
Telehealth groups for virtual IOP are covered under most Blue Cross plans the same way in-person visits are, which is what lets clients from outside Chester County join from home.
