Where you can get treatment with us in Pennsylvania

Three outpatient offices — Phoenixville, Center City Philadelphia and Avondale — plus virtual IOP for anyone living in Pennsylvania. One central admissions line answers for all of them.

Not near an office? Virtual IOP runs the same curriculum with the same clinicians, on a schedule built around work and family.

Three offices, one admissions line

Pennsylvania Recovery Center runs outpatient treatment from Phoenixville in northern Chester County, Center City Philadelphia, and Avondale in southern Chester County, with virtual IOP available to anyone physically located in Pennsylvania. All three offices and the virtual track share one admissions number, (610) 233-4342, so you never have to guess which location to call or repeat your story to a second intake coordinator.

When you call, we ask where you live or work, how you get around, what your week looks like, and what level of care an assessment points toward. Those four answers usually decide the office. Somebody commuting into the city from the Main Line often does better at Center City; somebody in Pottstown, Norristown or Royersford usually lands in Phoenixville; somebody near Oxford, Kennett Square or the Delaware line is closest to Avondale.

Groups, individual sessions, psychiatric care, case management and family work are the same across locations. What changes is the drive, the parking, and the transit connection — which is exactly what determines whether people finish a program or quietly drop out in week three.

Choosing between an office and virtual treatment

Virtual IOP is not a lighter version of treatment. It runs the same hours and the same curriculum, and it is often the right call for people with rotating shifts, small children at home, no reliable car, or a job that will not survive three afternoons a week of missing time. You need a private space and a device with a camera, and you need to be physically in Pennsylvania during sessions.

In-person care tends to win when isolation is part of the problem, when early recovery is fragile enough that being in a room with other people matters, or when medication management and closer clinical eyes are part of the plan. Partial hospitalization in particular is usually better attended in person.

You can also move between them. People routinely start in person, step down to virtual as work ramps back up, or start virtual and switch to an office once transportation stabilizes. That decision is made with your clinical team, not locked in at admission.

Counties and communities we serve

Chester, Montgomery, Delaware, Berks, Lancaster and Philadelphia counties make up most of our caseload. That includes Norristown, Reading, West Chester, Pottstown, Coatesville, Downingtown, Exton, Conshohocken, Media and King of Prussia, each of which has its own page explaining the drive, the local recovery community, and how insurance tends to work there.

If you are outside that radius, virtual IOP still covers you anywhere in the state, and we will tell you plainly if a program closer to home is the better option. We would rather refer you out than enroll you into a commute you cannot sustain.

What happens before your first session

The order is almost always the same: a free confidential phone assessment, insurance verification, a recommended level of care, then a start date at a specific location or on the virtual track. If the assessment shows you need medically supervised detox first, that is referral based — we arrange it with a detox partner and hold your outpatient start for when you finish.

Final availability is confirmed after insurance verification and a brief phone assessment, so the fastest path to an answer is a phone call rather than a form. Admissions answers around the clock.

Questions about our locations

Which location should I choose?
Pick the one you can reach reliably three to five days a week. Phoenixville serves northern Chester and Montgomery counties, Center City Philadelphia serves the city and transit commuters, and Avondale serves southern Chester County. If none of them work, virtual IOP covers all of Pennsylvania.
Do all three offices offer the same programs?
Partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, medication-assisted treatment prescribed alongside programming, psychiatric care, individual therapy and family work are available across our care system. Specific group schedules vary by office, and admissions will tell you what is running when you call.
Is there parking, and is transit an option?
Phoenixville and Avondale are drive-up offices with on-site parking. Center City is built around transit and walk-in access, which is why people commuting from the suburbs often choose it over driving into the city daily. Ask admissions about your specific route.
Do you have residential or inpatient beds?
No. We are an outpatient provider. If an assessment indicates you need inpatient or residential care, or medically supervised detox, we make the referral and take you back for outpatient treatment afterward.
Can I do treatment at one office and live somewhere else?
Yes. People commonly attend the office nearest their job rather than their home. Recovery housing referrals are also available if a stable living situation is part of what you need.
