Every program at Pennsylvania Recovery Center

We are an outpatient provider: PHP, IOP and virtual IOP, supported by evaluations, psychiatry, medication-assisted treatment and detox referrals when a higher level of care is safer first.

Not sure which one fits? A confidential assessment answers that in one call — insurance verified while you are on the phone.

How our levels of care fit together

Treatment at Pennsylvania Recovery Center is a continuum, not a menu. Most people enter through a free confidential assessment, get placed at the level of care that matches their withdrawal risk and daily stability, and then step down as that stability holds. Partial hospitalization is the most structured outpatient level we offer, intensive outpatient is the working person's version of the same clinical work, and virtual IOP delivers it to anyone physically located in Pennsylvania.

What determines placement is not motivation or how bad someone feels on the day they call. It is medical and psychiatric history, what substances are involved and how often, whether withdrawal needs supervision, what has been tried before, and what support exists at home. Two people describing the same drinking pattern can belong at two different levels for reasons that only come out in an assessment.

Our partial hospitalization program has no fixed length. Duration is determined by you and your clinical team based on how you are actually progressing, rather than a number set before anyone met you. The same logic governs when you step down to IOP and when you move into alumni support.

Detox is referral based

We do not run a detox unit. When an assessment shows that withdrawal needs medical supervision — most often with alcohol, benzodiazepines, or heavy daily opioid use — we coordinate a referral to a detox partner and hold your place for partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, or virtual IOP on the other side of it.

That handoff is the part people lose. Leaving detox with no appointment on the calendar is one of the highest-risk moments in the whole process, which is why we build the outpatient start date before you go rather than after you come back.

Medication, psychiatry and mental health

Medication-assisted treatment — Suboxone, Sublocade and Vivitrol — is prescribed only alongside active programming. We are not a prescription-only clinic, and we will not write a script as a substitute for treatment. Medication works here because it sits inside group work, individual therapy, and psychiatric follow-up.

Anxiety, depression, trauma, bipolar disorder and ADHD show up constantly alongside substance use. Our addiction psychiatrist and mental health track treat both at the same time, in the same building, with the same team, rather than sending you to coordinate two separate providers who never speak to each other.

Programs built around specific lives

Our HEROES program serves veterans, active duty service members, first responders and healthcare workers, with case management for VA referrals and authorizations, insurance and TRICARE questions, housing, employment, return-to-duty documentation, court letters and aftercare planning.

Evening and around-work scheduling exists because losing a job during early recovery tends to undo the recovery. Family programming exists because the household usually needs its own set of skills. Recovery housing referrals exist because a stable place to sleep predicts outcomes more reliably than almost anything we do clinically. Alumni support exists because the first year after discharge is where the work actually gets tested.

Questions about our programs

How do I know which program I need?
A free confidential assessment decides it. Call (610) 233-4342 and an admissions clinician walks through your history, current use, work and home situation, and any medical or psychiatric concerns, then recommends a level of care. Final availability is confirmed after insurance verification and a brief phone assessment.
How long does the partial hospitalization program last?
There is no fixed duration. Length of stay is determined by you and your clinical team based on your progress, safety and stability, and it is reviewed continuously rather than set at admission.
Can I keep working while in treatment?
Usually yes. Intensive outpatient and virtual IOP are designed around employment, and our rehab-after-work scheduling exists specifically for people who cannot step away from a job. Partial hospitalization is more demanding and often works better with short-term leave.
Do you offer detox?
Not on site. Medically supervised detox is referral based. If an assessment shows you need it, we arrange the referral and schedule your outpatient start for when detox is complete.
Can I get Suboxone without attending a program?
No. Suboxone, Sublocade and Vivitrol are prescribed only in conjunction with PHP, IOP or virtual IOP — never as a standalone prescription.
Is virtual treatment as effective as in person?
For many people, yes — it runs the same hours and curriculum. In-person care tends to be the better choice when isolation is part of the problem or when closer clinical monitoring and medication management are needed. Your clinical team helps you choose and you can move between them.
