Drug & Alcohol Interventionists in Pennsylvania

When someone will not accept help on their own, a professionally run intervention is how families change the outcome. Pennsylvania Recovery Center partners with Intervention 365 — the practice of Jim Reidy, the interventionist featured on A&E's Intervention — for drug and alcohol interventions nationwide.

One call connects you to an interventionist with hundreds of interventions behind him and to our family support team led by former Flyer Chris Therien — from the first planning meeting through treatment and long after.

Working with Jim Reidy and Intervention 365

Jim Reidy has spent more than a decade as a Certified Intervention Professional and has conducted close to 600 interventions. Pennsylvania Recovery Center is proud to partner with Intervention 365 for any drug and alcohol addiction intervention — Jim flies all over the country, from Pennsylvania to New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware and beyond.

From the very first phone call, the commitment is for a lifetime: the family hears that there will never be a moment when the interventionist won't answer the phone or be involved. To us, a successful intervention is not just getting someone into treatment on day one — it is being there for the family through every stage of recovery that follows.

The family is part of the treatment

Family involvement is just as crucial as the loved one seeking help. If the family does not address their own issues and heal alongside their loved one, the chances of success drop significantly. Families are educated and guided on their own path while they support their loved one's.

And there is no such thing as an unsuccessful intervention. Even if the person struggling does not go to treatment right away, an interventionist who trains, teaches and guides the family has laid the groundwork — and the door stays open for the moment they are ready.

  • A planning meeting with the family before anything happens
  • A structured, compassionate intervention — never an ambush
  • Treatment placement decided before the intervention, so there is no gap
  • Coaching for what to say, what not to say, and what boundaries to hold
  • Follow-up support for the family long after treatment starts

Line up the plan before the conversation

The instant check looks at pending admissions, therapist caseloads and open group spots across all three offices and virtual IOP — so a yes has somewhere to go the same day.

Family support services with Chris Therien

Alongside intervention, our family support services are led by former NHL player Chris Therien together with crisis clinician Bill Broomall. Chris's firsthand recovery experience and professional background let him connect with families on a profound level — in-home guidance, treatment placement, case management, education and crisis intervention, all tailored to your family's situation.

These services are not limited to any one kind of family. We work with families across the Main Line and greater Philadelphia, and we offer pro bono work to families in need, because comprehensive care should be accessible to all.

Need an intervention this week, or just need to talk through whether one is right? Call (610) 233-4342 — the assessment is free and confidential. You can also read our guide on how to choose the right interventionist.

Where your loved one goes after yes

Because we are a treatment program, an intervention here ends with a plan, not a referral list: PHP (about six hours a day, five days a week), IOP (9–15 hours a week, day or evening), or virtual IOP anywhere in Pennsylvania — with detox placement coordinated first when withdrawal makes it necessary.

Families who want structure after treatment can step into our recovery housing options and our free alumni program, so the support does not stop when the program does.

Common questions

How much does an intervention cost?

Intervention fees depend on the scope — travel, planning sessions and length of involvement. Call (610) 233-4342 and we will walk you through costs honestly, including the free assessment that comes first.

What if my loved one says no?

The family still comes out ahead: you leave with education, boundaries and a plan, and the groundwork is laid for when they are ready. Many clients arrive months after a first intervention because the family handled that day well.

Do you do interventions outside Pennsylvania?

Yes. Our intervention partner travels nationwide — New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware and beyond.

Can Chris Therien work directly with our family?

Yes. Chris Therien and crisis clinician Bill Broomall provide in-home guidance, treatment placement, case management and crisis intervention, with pro bono availability for families in need.

Should we stage an intervention ourselves?

A surprise ambush usually backfires. A trained interventionist plans who speaks, in what order, and what happens the moment your loved one says yes — which is why the first recommendation is always to call a professional first.
